When you feel misunderstood and disconnected in your relationship, and lack good communication with your partner, it can be exhausting and frustrating. As with most couples, it was probably different at the beginning of your relationship, but something got lost or forgotten along the way. The intimacy diminished, the satisfaction subsided, the anger is growing, and so is the distance.

Now you're unsure not just of what to do about it, but even how to start talking about it - and whether it will be helpful at all. It's even harder to talk as your patience dwindles, and you might question whether you need this relationship at all, even though you don't really want to leave. The good news? Many couples feel this way before they find a path back to one another - and I feel lucky and rewarded to accompany couples as they make such changes.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have or to schedule a session.
I help long-term couples who:
  • Feel stuck in arguments and conflicts but still want to make it work
  • Have come to a communication dead-end
  • Experience strong emotional reactions to some external event or life change
  • Have lost emotional and sexual intimacy
  • Miss the closeness they once had and want it back
  • Are considering separation but want to be sure they've tried everything
  • Want to stay on peaceful and friendly terms during separation when children are involved

Hi, nice to meet you! :)
My name is Boris Herzberg and I am a psychoanalytic therapist and couples counselor working online. I help long-term couples resolve conflicts, overcome destructive cycles and rebuild connection.
My approach

For more than a decade, I've been working with and around relationships as a consultant, coach, and therapist. I provide online sessions that help couples improve their communication, resolve conflicts, and better their relationship, and I help individuals find what hinders their happiness and fix their relationship with themselves.

Personally - not just professionally - I put utmost importance on the value of relationships, being married myself and having raised three kids (well, and two cats, though they’ve grown pretty independently).

I am trained in the psychoanalytic psychodynamic paradigm with couples specialization, as well as coaching, which means I will encourage honest dialogue between you without pushing or forcing you, generally adhering to the principles of psychoanalytic psychodynamic therapy: following the subjects you raise, analyzing your here-and-now, focusing on emotions, and discussing what is important to you, both in your present and your past.

I see each person as a unique being and thus work in a holistic way - with people, not with problems, so you can expect an empathetic, accommodating and non-judgmental calm and patient approach.

On a personal side:

I was born in 1980 in the former USSR (Moldova), moved and lived in Isrаel, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and in different countries across Europe. As you can see, my personal experience is in line with my professional practice, making it easier for me to understand couples from different places and backgrounds, including international families, long-distance couples and expats (as well as people affected by war). I speak English, Russian and Hebrew.

In our work we'll explore and discover together -
  • What doesn't work out between you and how you can break free from destructive cycles
  • What keeps you connected and how to nurture it
  • What your realistic expectations from one another can be
  • What you agree on and is the basis of your relationship to reinforce the common ground
  • How you can respectfully disagree with one another while maintaining understanding and communication
